COURSE OVERVIEW (RYS 200)

Techniques, Training and Practice (100 hours)

This includes Asana, Pranayama, Meditation, Mudra, Bandha, Kriyas, Mantras and the classic yoga styles, such as: Karma, Jnana, Bhakti, Kriya, and Raja yoga. These hours are a mix of analytical and practical training, (how to practice, teach and guide these techniques ).

Teaching Methodology - Practicum (25 hours)

  • Principles of demonstration, observation, assisting, and correcting students.
  • Develop the qualities of a yoga teacher.
  • Learn about the five asana categories and key poses of each category: Standing poses, forward bends, backbends, twisting asanas and inversions. 
  • The benefits and contraindications of each asana.
  • Pre & Post-Natal Yoga.
  • Yoga for kids.
  • Yoga for seniors.
  • Restorative yoga, Basic and Peparatory Movements which include specific asana groups for common disease and how to adjust the practice to your student's needs.
  • How to guide students through the use of language and voice with positive and conscious communication.

Anatomy and Physiology (20 hours)

  • Overview of physical anatomy and physiology, bodily systems, and organs.
  • Prana, Chakras, Nadis and Koshas.
  • Benefits & Contraindications
  • Ayurveda Basics

Yoga Philosophy, Lifestyle and Ethics for Yoga Teachers (30 hours)

  • Overview of the Bhagavad Gita, Vedas, Mahabharata, and Ramayana.
  • Yogic Lifestyle & Diet.
  • Karma & Reincarnation.
  • The Ethics of a yogi as written in the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, which are the roots of all yoga styles.
  • Mindfulness and development of consciousness.
  • Understanding the value of teaching yoga.
  • Business aspects of yoga.

Practicum (25 hours)

Teaching practice, which includes individual teaching and assisting as the student in teaching lessons.

How to get here

Arrival by Taxi from the North Airport

If you arrive at Tenerife North Airport (TFN / Los Rodeos), you need to catch a taxi to the school. The taxi will cost you no more than 20 EUR. 

Arrival by Bus and Taxi from the South Airport

If you arrive at Tenerife South Airport (TFS / Reina Sofia), you need to catch the direct bus 343 to the Tenerife North Airport (TFN). From there, take a taxi to the school in Tejina. The taxi fare from Tenerife North Airport (TFN) to the school will cost you no more than 20 EUR. 

Driving directions from Tenerife North Airport (TFN)

From the airport, you need to take the secondary road TF-154.

Driving directions from Tenerife South Airport (TFS)

From the South Airport, you need to take the highway TF-1 to the Tenerife North Airport, and then the secondary road TF-154.
